The handcraft molding in traditional Jewelry making process,needs to go through sawing, filing, grinding,polishing and other complex processes on a wax model or non-precious metal(like silver and brass) model, finally gets the first original physical model.
At present,for ordinary styles of rings, pendants, experienced craftsmen need a whole day to make a wax model. For complex styles, it takes more days, even more than a week to finish all processes for a wax model. When comes to some creative styles, it is impossible to complete by traditional handcraft production.
3D printing technology effectively solves the problems such as complex processes and long time producing cycle by traditional Jewelry handcraft molding. It only needs jewelry designers or jewelry digital technology modeling engineers to design 3D drawings in a computer,then input the 3D files to Jewelry 3D printers. It can be automatically printed and finally get the original resin models, which totally cuts off the handcrafted molding process. The setting size of Jewelry which needs to be set with stones can be freely changed in the computer 3D files, thus eliminating re-molding for different setting sizes in the past, which brings much inconvenience.
In principle, using 3D jewelry digital technology,the same design rings can be set with any sizes of diamonds or colorful stones, only needing to adjust the setting size design data in the computer. In this way, a jewelry computer design file is at least equivalent to more than 10 handcrafted models.
2.Self-control producing and Shorten the cycle
Before designers finish their day, they can input the completed 3D design files to the Jewelry 3D printer and start printing. When they start working in the next day, everything is ok for them to dropoff the Resin model board and clean the whole board.Then they get the each piece jewelry model in the board for post-processing. DLP 3D Printers run automatically at night, unattended, printing more than 100 pieces of small size jewelry resin models. During the automatically printing process, the complex rapid prototyping can be completed unattended, which not only increases the jewelry model producing efficiency, but also shortens the craft producing cycle.
3.Digital control, exquisite and precise
As jewellery has the thickness requests, in the handcrafted molding processes, craftsmen use inside calipers to measure thickness, making sure the same thickness as requested at everywhere in the Jewellery. But measuring by manual is not as precise as by computer, it cannot achieve 100% precise, but machine can. Input data to the computer, and make the exact thickness data for the requested position, then the results will never be error. And DLP 3D Printers can make the printing precision reaches 0.025mm.
The emergency of DLP 3D printing technology,has rewritten the current situation that only mass production can reduce the production cost in Jewelry industry. Since then we no longer need to reduce the cost and improve the quality by mass production. We can produce a small amount of Jewelry or even a single piece of customized jewelry at the cost of quantity production. In this way, it can not only meet the market demand for personalized Jewelry products, but also produce the Jewelry which cannot be made by conventional and traditional Jewelry technologies.
